This is the mechanical transfer pump, which brings fuel from the fuel tank to the injection pump.Mounted on the front of the engine, this is the smaller of the two pumps and is directly above the injection pump.

Sprinter 2002-2003
Replaces the earlier problematic pump of a similar design.
Not used on 2004-2006 models, which have an electric pump located inside the fuel tank.
