ONLY FOR MODELS WITH 180 AMP ALTERNATOR- DO NOT TRY TO USE THIS ON A 220 AMP ALTERNATOR, IT WON'T WORK
If in doubt, look at the back of the black
plastic back cover on your alternator. It will be marked either 180A
or 220A.
If you have had continuing sluggish starts and other electrical problems and you are certain that you have a strong alternator, generating an output of 14V, you may want to look closely at your positive battery cable/harness, especially for internal corrosion on the copper braiding.
This can be a common occurrence in older cables.
This is often a common area of electrical trouble and is commonly referred to as the infamous "Y cable".
This is the fourth revision of this cable by Mercedes. All three of the previous units have been discontinued and should no longer be installed.
This cable is the most current revision. 906 440 14 09, 906 440 35 38 and 906 440 81 55, are all obsolete.
