Located at rear edge of sliding door at the middle.
This is the part that slides inside the black track which is mounted to the right rear quarter panel.

Before ordering, check your door wiring harness for broken insulation, as this is a common failure areaand is often mistaken for a failed actuator. The harness has long been discontinued by VW but, your old harness can be repaired however, it is a time consuming procedure.
Electrical items, such as this one, are not returnable.
Many owners remove the lock cylinder and replace it with their old one, in order to retain the same key.
When installing this unit, apply grease to the parts surfaces that interface with the latch inside the door. The handle's moving parts are die cast metal and are very brittle. Lubrication will prevent premature failure.
