Failure of the Secondary Air Pump is generally caused by a failed Kombi valve. The failure of this check valve allows hot exhaust gases to travel back into the pump. The water vapor in the exhaust gasses will condense and quickly corrode the pump internals. Replace this valve when replacing the pump. Failure to do so will void the warranty on the air pump
